About Sheri
Hi — I’m glad you’re here. Let me introduce myself.
Welcome! I’m Sheri Patterson, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 12 years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges. I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Valparaiso University.
Prior to working in private practice, I had the privilege of providing individual, family and group therapy for teens and adults in an inpatient psychiatric hospital. Shifting to private practice allowed for the creation of a welcoming, supportive setting where individuals and families can explore growth at a pace that feels right for them.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming and am committed to walking alongside my clients with empathy, respect, and genuine care.
My approach is grounded in solution-focused and positive psychology principles, helping clients recognize their strengths while working toward meaningful, lasting change. I integrate a variety of evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Gottman-informed couples therapy techniques, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of each person.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey. I value building authentic connections with my clients and strive to create a nonjudgmental environment where individuals and families feel comfortable exploring their experiences, gaining insight, and moving forward with confidence and hope. I look forward to working with you.
